Dallas Stars The 'menswear guy' just roasted these Dallas Stars players' plaid suits on social media

One of the many things people try to avoid on X (née Twitter), is getting roasted by "the menswear guy," AKA Derek Guy, for their sartorial choices.

Guy, who writes about mens' fashion at his blog Die, Workwear! , is best known for his X account , where he frequently goes viral for roasting people based on what they wear (sometimes in jest, sometimes in earnest).

Over the weekend, Guy set his sights on Dallas Stars forward Logan Stankoven and defensemen Thomas Harley and Mathew Dumba.

The Dallas Stars X account posted photos of the three players dressed in plaid suits on the way to the locker room Saturday for the team's pre-season game against the St. Louis Blues at the American Airlines Center. All three were wearing suits with pants that came up above the ankles.

"No one gave us the plaid memo," the tweet said.

Guy saw the tweet and said: "for a small pittance of their annual salary, i would love to outfit NHL players in what I think would be cooler clothes."

Other users joked about the length of the players' pants:

"did they run out of money for full length pants?" one user posted .

"They all look like they just hit a growth spurt," another said .

Guy followed up his joke with a solution for how he would have styled the Stars' suits :

"would put:

— the most conservative guys in better tailoring. no short jackets and short pants; more classic proportions. dress shoes only. a turtleneck or long sleeve polo if they don't want want to wear a tie. if they want to experiment, then play around with fabric, but none of the italian stuff that looks too lux. more english fabrics or italian mills who do english taste well.

— for guys who don't feel comfortable in tailoring, i would put them in workwear. cargo pants, double-knee pants, carhartt jackets, leather jackets, trucker jackets, boots, etc.

— for guys who want to experiment, i would have them try on lemaire, jan jan van esche, or stoffa. very easy to look good in long, flowy coats, wider pants, textured sweaters, and long scarves. not too out of the ordinary, so easier to pull off and will appeal to a wider audience."

At the end of the day, the Stars took the exchange stride with a joking response.

"Derek we are just trying to do our job, please stop ratio-ing us," the Stars wrote .

"my bad," Guy replied.

The Stars' regular season starts on Oct. 10 in Nashville against the Predators. Their home opener is Oct. 12 against the New York Islanders. Until then, fans can catch the team in pre-season play until Oct. 3, including Monday night in Colorado against the Avalanche.
