Sunny Hostin, a host of "The View," said Thursday that Latino Texans voted for President-elect Donald Trump because of "misogyny and sexism."

She interrupted Alyssa Farah Griffin, who was explaining how three quarters of a majority-Latino area on the border with Mexico voted for Trump because residents have experienced a "border crisis" firsthand.

"We talk a lot about these different demographics and these assumptions of where they're gonna go. Latinos in Texas – a district that's 97% Latino went 75 percentage points for Donald Trump. Why?" Griffin said before Hostin interrupted her.

"Misogyny," Hostin said.

"No, it's on the border. The border crisis is on their doorstep," Griffin replied. "And they were begging people to care about it for years."

"Misogyny and sexism – that's what that was," Hostin replied.

It is unclear which "district" Griffin was referring to, but Starr County, Texas, for Donald Trump after backing Hillary Clinton by 60 points in 2016. The vast majority of the county's residents are Latino or Hispanic.

Fifty-five percent of Hispanic and Latino voters in Texas cast their ballot for Trump, according to an published by The Washington Post. Of the president-elect's voters there, 90% picked immigration as the most important issue, the poll shows.

Trump campaigned in Texas nearly two weeks ago, when he pledged to end a "migrant invasion."

"Under the Trump administration, we will end this migrant invasion, and we will deport every last criminal alien targeting our daughters and our children, and our families, other people's families," he said. "They're gonna be gone. They're gonna be gone fast."

Vice President Kamala Harris's proposed plan for the border involved reviving a bill that Democrats claimed addressed issues with the immigration system.

"I will do more to secure our border," she said in a . "To reduce illegal border crossings, I will take further action to keep our border closed between ports of entry."
