Veterans Day Ceremony

Pets Global Partner to Present Veterans Weekend Free Adoption Event
When: Saturday, November 9th | 11 am – 3 pm Where: Castaic Animal Care Center
What: The Castaic Animal Care Center will be hosting a family-friendly Veterans Weekend Pet Adoption event this Saturday to honor veterans and encourage the community to learn more about the benefits of pet adoption. The event is free to attend, open to the public, and will include: Giveaways and starter kits from pet food brands Zignature and Fussie Cat; Fees waived for adoptions on all cats and dogs (just pay licensing); Veterans groups, including local recruiters; Lovies Dogz Foundation, to talk about service animals and second chances; Arrow Custom Dog Training for training consultations; Face painting, food trucks, local retailers, and more!
Family Literacy Festival Decoration Prep
Where: Old Town Newhall Library
What: Volunteers will help library staff assemble decorations and craft samples for the 17th annual Family Literacy Festival. This opportunity entails repetitive tasks, like cutting and gluing and sitting for an extended period of time. Volunteers must have attention to detail and minimal need for supervision.
Edamame Butterfly: Exposure
Where: The MAIN
What: Japanese solo performer, Kazu Kusano, gently, yet radically investigates sexual politics in the modern age. What:Monthly Bird Walk is offered on the first and second Saturdays of each month (weather permitting) from 8:00 am to 9:30 am. Bring your binoculars (or borrow ours), water, comfortable shoes and a field guide if available. Animal Show is held on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Meet the Animal Ambassadors who live in the canyon and Learn what they eat, where they live, their physical attributes and much more! Light Up Main Street
When: Saturday, November 16th | 4 pm – 8 pm
What: The City of Santa Clarita and Santa Clarita City Council invite residents to spend some time in Old Town Newhall to kick off the holiday season! The Light Up Main Street celebration in Old Town Newhall will happen on Saturday, November 16. The street will be adorned with thousands of lights and a 23-foot Christmas tree in front of the Old Town Newhall Library which will serve as an anchor to the festive street.
Festival of Trees
What: For 22 years, Santa Clarita families have been creating memorable holiday experiences at Festival of Trees- a community-wide holiday event in support of Boys & Girls Club of Santa Clarita Valley. What: Come join the Wildland Weekend Warriors in planting and watering plants in Golden Valley or Elsmere Canyon Open Space, or Taylor Trailhead to feed our local pollinators and wildlife. For this project, volunteers should bring work gloves. A long-handled shovel is optional, but helpful.
Saturday's Kids with Raising the Curtain Foundation
