Three families displaced by 3-alarm fire in Norwich
Nov. 6—NORWICH — Three families were displaced by a three-alarm fire on Tuesday that severely damaged portions of a three-family home at 31 Ninth St.
First reported at 7:30 p.m., Battalion Chief Patrick Curtin said firefighters arrived to find flames shooting from multiple windows on the second floor of the home.
Norwich firefighters were joined by several mutual aid departments and the fire was knocked down by 8:38 p.m. Curtin said the fire caused damage to multiple rooms on the second floor and had extended to the third floor and attic.
The Taftville, Occum, East Great Plain, Laurel Hill, and Yantic fire departments, along with the Mohegan Tribal FAST team, all were called out to the fire.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Red Cross is providing assistance to the displaced residents.
