Three people displaced in East Union Twp. fire
EAST UNION TWP. — Three adults and three dogs escaped injury Sunday morning in a house fire in Zion Grove.
Shepton-Oneida Fire Chief JC Kriesher said firefighters responded to a fire at 746 Creek Road at 1:22 a.m.
"It's still under investigation," Kriesher said Monday.
He did not return a call for comment Tuesday.
State police Fire Marshal Joseph Hall is investigating the fire that displaced the three people, Kriesher said Monday.
Upon arrival, flames were seen shooting from the home. The fire is believed to have started in the garage, Kriesher said.
"The entire house was not destroyed. It sustained significant damage" including the roof, he said.
The homeowners closed a door, which prevented the fire from spreading to all areas of the house, he said.
He did not have a damage estimate for the fire, which took 45 minutes to get under control.
The Red Cross provided assistance to the three residents and their pets.
Firefighters from Schuylkill and Luzerne counties responded to the blaze.
