Tonight will be the coldest night in months in Syracuse!

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – A November chill has returned, but does it stick around, and do we have any chances for precipitation anytime soon?? Answers are below...

November chill and sunshine are back Temperatures have chilled down to slightly chillier than average as shower chances have disappeared and clear sky/sunshine have returned.

It was a slow, brisk and damp start to Tuesday with a few lake rain and higher terrain snow showers. A few spots saw a little coating like Greek Peak, but that was the exception not the rule.

Below is video of the first flakes on Onondaga Hill from Doreen Masella Tuesday morning

Despite some sun highs only reached the mid-40s in Syracuse Tuesday afternoon, and with the brisk north-northwest wind it felt more like the 30s all day long.

Coldest night of the fall tonight High pressure builds in tonight, so our sky continues to clear, and the winds die down. That means temperatures plummet with lows around Syracuse in the mid-20s making for the coldest night we have seen so far this fall and likely since March 25th! It is even colder in outlying areas south and east of Syracuse with some mid to upper teens likely.

Frosty start to Wednesday, but... Have the ice scraper ready Wednesday morning!

Lots of sun is expected after a cold, frosty start Wednesday throughout the region with highs rebounding into the mid to upper 40s with less wind. The lighter winds will make it feel noticeably better come the afternoon compared to Tuesday.

When is our next chance for rain?? We are watching a frontal system approaching us from the west for Thursday. The trend from our computer models the last few days is to weaken this front as it gets closer to Central New York, so it looks less likely that showers make it to Syracuse. We are keeping a very low chance for showers in the forecast in case a few showers make it into the Finger Lakes.

Even if these showers make it into the Finger Lakes Thursday, it is likely the dry air over us would cause the showers to dry up Thursday evening. If that's the case, we may have to wait until early next week for our next chance for wet weather.

for the latest 7-day forecast.
