Santa Fe helping with tree branch removal after storm

A.Williams2 hr ago
Nov. 13—After last week's snowstorm knocked down tree branches throughout the area, the city of Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Solid Waste Management Agency are helping residents clear up the debris.

Residents can either drop off items at the Buckman Road Recycling and Transfer Station for free or take advantage of a reduced rate for at-home pickup, the city announced in a Wednesday news release. People can use the Buckman station's express lane free of charge through Nov. 23 to drop off tree branches. Branches must be secured properly during transport, the release noted.

Residents can also schedule pickup of large items through the city's Environmental Services Division, which will reduce its standard $50 fee to $25 for tree branch pickup. Residents can call the division at 505-955-2200 or email to schedule an appointment, the release said, and a date will be scheduled for a Friday or Saturday between now and Nov. 23.

Residents must move items to the curb and place them at least 3 feet away from mailboxes, cars and other obstructions, the release said.

The plan may be extended beyond the current dates if enough people still need help with downed branches. The release also says city crews are working to remove branches from city properties and parks.
