Here are a look at five of the top performers in the Columbus Telegram's surrounding area from the fourth week of the high school football season in no particular order.

Ethan Wieseler of Humphrey Archangels Catholic

A new name and a new mascot has not hindered Archangels as the Defender football team currently sits at 4-0 midway through the season.

On Friday, the Defenders faced Riverside and pulled away with a 48-30 win over the Chargers.

Sophomore Ethan Wieseler led the Defenders in the win with a six touchdown performance.

Wieseler put Archangels up 20-0 with a 1-yard rushing score in the first, another 1-yard rushing score in the second and running touchdown from 13 yards out later in the second.

The sophomore Defender would add three more goal line scores in the second half with one from the three and two more from the one.

After the 4-0 start, the Defenders will travel to 1-3 Nebraska Christian in week four seeking a fifth-straight win.

Brogan Benes of Boone Central

The Cardinals bounced back from loses in Weeks 2 and 3 with a 37-14 win over Wood River in Week 4.

Leading the charge for Boone Central was junior Brogan Benes who did a bit of everything offensively for the Cardinals.

Benes passed twice for 68 yards and a touchdown, he rushed the ball 25 times for 225 yards and two scores. Benes wasn't done there however, he would also rack up two catches for 114 yards and a score.

The junior finished with 405 yards and four scores in the Cardinals' 23-point win.

Boone Central improved to 2-2 with the win and the defending state champions will now play at 2-2 Cross County in week five.

Tucker Matthies of Clarkson/Leigh

The Patriots snapped their winless streak with a 60-34 win over Twin River Friday.

Clarkson/Leigh ran for 503 yards in the win, with Tucker Matthies finishing second on the team with 183 yards behind Blake Loseke's 203. Matthies would lead the Patriots with three rushing scores on his 20 attempts.

The Patriots passed the ball three times for 61 yards, with Matthies catching all three balls where he added two more scores on the day.

Matthies finished with 244 yards and five scores from scrimmage.

The now 1-3 Patriots will host 0-4 Madison in week five.

Rocco Hageman of East Butler

The Tigers hosted McCool Junction on Friday with East Butler winning 30-14 to improve to 3-1.

Junior Rocco Hageman ran the ball 37 times in the win.

Hageman would use those 37 rushing attempts to run for 216 yards and three scores.

East Butler led McCool Junction 8-6 at the half and was able to outscore the Mustangs 22-8 in the second half to secure the 16-point win.

The Tigers will host 3-1 Shelby-Rising City in a rivalry matchup.

Hunter Luther of Howells-Dodge

The Jaguars remained unbeaten with a 56-30 win over Nebraska Christian.

Howells-Dodge junior Hunter Luther led the charge for the Jaguars' offense with just 13 rushes. Luther ended up taking those 13 rushes to the house five times as he finished with 316 yards on the ground.

Luther also led the Howells-Dodge defense with eight tackles against the Eagles.

Howells-Dodge improved to 4-0 and is currently outscoring opponents 192-76.

The Jaguars will return to action in Week 5 against 4-0 Fullerton in a battle of undefeated teams.
