Town of Beaufort hosts Board of Commissioners meeting, decide name for Washington docks

BEAUFORT, N.C. (WNCT) — The town of Beaufort had a Board of Commissioners meeting and a few notable points were talked over.

This particular board meeting started off with introductions of new firemen for the Beaufort Fire Department. During public comment, one local restaurant owner commented on the proposed food truck ordinance that could change how food trucks operate in the historic district of the town

"While I understand there are concerns of food truck noise from generators and with competition with brick and mortar restaurants, I believe the current draft could hurt some local businesses, including Fishtowne brewhouse, which is reliant on food trucks to support its operation," said Joey McClure, co-founder of Fishtowne Brew House in Beaufort.

The drafted ordinance is not set in stone but has been discussed in the past meetings and will be topic of discussion for the future. Later on in the meeting, the board discussed the Beaufort waterfront operations for the local docks.

There is still much time to figure out with the logistics there, but the commissioners agreed on the name for the docks, "Beaufort Town Docks" barring any trademark issues.
