RELATED: Troy QB situation remains unsettled heading into home game vs. FAMU

Goose Crowder missed last week's loss to Iowa with a shoulder injury, then backup Matthew Caldwell left the game after cramping up. That pushed sophomore Tucker Kilcrease into action for the first time this season. Crowder is officially a "game-time decision" for the Trojans, but the smart money is that Caldwell takes the first snap. If things go well for the Trojans, we might see a lot of Kilcrease as well.

Even though the Trojans lost by 17 points to Iowa, Ross was arguably the best player on the field. The Trojans' receiver caught touchdown passes of 63 and 62 yards, and also returned a punt 77 yards for a third score to finish with 219 all-purpose yards. FAMU isn't likely to have anyone who can cover Ross one-on-one, so look for Troy to try and get the ball to him down the field early and often.

The Trojans lost a nailbiter to Nevada in Week 1, then got dominated in the second half vs. Memphis and Iowa. As a three-touchdown favorite vs. an FCS opponent, you'd think Troy might finally be able to build an early lead and get some younger players some experience. Doing so this week is especially key with the Sun Belt Conference opener set for next week vs. Louisiana-Monroe. Avoiding any more major injuries is also a huge priority for the Trojans.

KEY MATCHUPFAMU QB Daniel Richardson vs. Troy linebackers Richardson has completed 68% of his passes with six touchdowns this season, but can also extend plays when he gets out of the pocket. Troy's Brendan Jackson and Jordan Stringer will be tasked with plugging those potential running lanes.
