Trump adds one final insult for Puerto Ricans in Fox News appearance

Latinos, if you're waiting for an apology from Donald Trump , whose campaign booked an insult comic to kick off the racist, hate-filled rally at Madison Square Garden, fuhgeddaboudit.

Heck, Trump on Saturday added yet another insult by saying he still hasn't bothered to listen to the "floating island of garbage" joke that all but ended his presidential campaign — which, of course, is either a compounding crime of political malpractice or, more likely, a lie.

But it's another sign of disrespect nonetheless.

In a call-in appearance on Fox News ' , Trump told the sycophantic co-hosts:

"Well, I guess somebody put on a comedian, and he made a joke. He mentioned Puerto Rico ... they put him in early in the show as a filler, in all fairness. I guess he said some joke. I haven't heard the joke, but he said some joke. And he mentioned Puerto Rico. All of a sudden, they come out with something about Puerto Rico. Nobody's been better to Puerto Rico than me."

Trump insisted on the call that "nobody's done more for Puerto Rico than me," but Puerto Ricans know better. Aside from withholding hurricane aid and insulting local officials, Trump tried to sell the island like it was a pair of Trump sneakers or an overpriced Trump watch.

From the New York Times :

as "grossly incompetent." A year later, while running for re-election, he as the "best thing that ever happened" to the island. The Republican Party platform no longer mentions statehood for Puerto Rico, a position the party had held before Mr. Trump's relationship with the island soured.

Trump, of course, has never apologized for comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's insult that that Puerto Rico was "a floating island of garbage."

When Trump finished his rant — which included complimenting Democrats for "being good at this stuff," presumably torpedoing his campaign — co-host Dean Cain told Trump that "it doesn't look like turning that comedian's joke into three days of a new cycle actually worked. You know, the Hispanic polling ... is definitely trending in your direction."

Pollsters would beg to differ — bigly.

New University of Central Florida polling reveals that Puerto Ricans in Florida now overwhelmingly back Vice President Kamala Harris over Trump, according to a report by on Friday. The poll found 85 percent of likely Puerto Rican voters said that they would back Harris, while only 8 percent said they would back Trump.
