Tuesday Outlook: Showers continue to develop with chance of damaging winds

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — This first full day of fall was a little cooler than Sunday under a mostly cloudy sky. Some scattered strong storms developed in the mountains and foothills, and there's a better chance more neighborhoods could get some stormy weather on Tuesday.

Tuesday could start with a spotty shower or two in the morning, but the best chance of blossoming storms comes in the afternoon and evening. They're possible anywhere in the region, and a couple of storms could turn severe with damaging wind gusts and/or hail. It's a day to stay weather-aware!

Wednesday is looking a bit drier before tropical moisture (and wind) heads our way late in the week. Future tropical cyclone Helene is forecast to make landfall late Thursday around the Big Bend area of Florida. The forecast then takes it north toward the western Carolinas on Friday, which would be our main "day of impact". That's when we could get the heaviest rain–several inches in spots–and some strong, gusty wind. Still too early to nail down exact numbers, so keep checking in for updates! The weekend is looking drier.

: Mainly cloudy with a lingering shower/storm early. Low 70.

: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms developing. High 84.
