“Turning Drake’s OGs Against Him”: Fans Shocked as DeMar DeRozan Hops on Kendrick Lamar’s Music Video After Viral Concert Appearance

When the much-anticipated Not Like Us music video of Kendrick Lamar, which was being filmed in various locations in and around his native Compton, dropped; it did not disappoint. However, what was a pleasant surprise was the appearance of one of the hottest free agents now, DeMar DeRozan. A Compton native himself, DeRozan's presence would make sense. But given the current scenario in the NBA, it just seems like a God-given sign that the 34-year-old would like to come back home.

Yet, this is a shocker for another reason as well. If you remember, Lamar's Inglewood concert had nearly the entire LA grooving to his tunes. And that involved some of the top names in the NBA, as well. More to the point, perhaps, was that quite a few of them were very close to the Canadian rapper, Drake. Given that the past few songs of the duo were all diss tracks, thanks to the highly publicized beef between the pair of them, the appearance of LeBron James, DeMar DeRozan, and more was considered as a switching of allegiance.

And now, we have this. The Instagram page, NBAonESPN posted the news and the comment section immediately blew up. Captioned, "DeMar DeRozan in Kendrick's "Not Like Us" video," what really got the fans going was a lyric from the music video on the image.

I'm glad DeRoz came home," followed by a palm tree emoji.

Following a similar line of thought, a fan wrote, "Kendrick now turning Drake's OGs against him," a reference, perhaps to DeRozan's time with the Raptors . Getting one of Drake's favorite players during his time in Toronto in Lamar's music video was a genius stroke.

What more did these very shocked/pleased fans have to say about the whole shebang?

Fans go crazy after DeMar DeRozan-Kendrick Lamar collab, remembering Drake While the majority of the comments were about the Lakers going to sign DeMar, we do have a few strays. A popular thread in the comment box was fans getting confused over DeRoz. Take a look at what this user lamented about. "Took me way too long to realize he wasn't saying "D Rose", followed by a crying-a-river-emoji.

Derrick Rose, much, much more popularly known as 'D-Rose', was the topic of conversation here.

The mistake can't really be helped, now, can it? After all, we have been calling just one guy, 'D-Rose', for so long. Suddenly KDot shows up with the same name (very close), and the error is permissible.

Another individual hilariously pointed out that, "Drake definitely ain't letting you back in Canada." As mentioned above, Drake and DeRozan are reportedly friends. Ex-Raptor, Kyle Lowry had reported that the trio often used to exchange texts. In fact, the three of them had appeared on the cover of SLAM Magazine in 2016, when they were all part of the Toronto team.

So, yeah, fans speculating DeRozan's appearance in the Grammy-award-winning rapper's music video would hurt Drake, is understandable.

Yet another fan can't seem to get over the height difference. "Damn how tall is Debo??? He got Kendrick looking 4'11," followed by a laughing emoji. While the internet has varying answers to the height of the 29x BET Hip Hop Award winner, ranging from 5'4 to 5'6, there is no doubt that the chances of him getting close to an NBA player's height are unlikely. DeMar, for his part, stands at a standard 6'6. So, whichever way you look at it, Lamar will end up looking tiny next to the 6x All-Star.

And finally, this fan, for whatsoever reason, decided to introduce a fact. Only, they weren't anywhere close to the truth. "Derozan is from Compton and he's Kendrick's cousin." Except for the Compton part, the rest, unfortunately, is not true.

Then again, the slip-up might have been genuine. The 2018 Pulitzer Prize recipient does have a bevy of popular cousins, and one among them was an ex-NBA player – Nick Young, more popularly known as 'Swaggy P'.
