Two dead after apparent murder-suicide in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS – A man and a woman were killed in a overnight shooting in north St. Louis that appears to be a murder-suicide case.

St. Louis Metropolitan Police responded to the shooting around 3 a.m. Saturday on Goodfellow Boulevard off Emma Avenue in the Walnut Park West neighborhood.

Police found a 49-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman in the bedroom of a home, both unresponsive and suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS crews pronounced both the man and the woman deceased at the scene.

A Glock handgun was recovered near the man. At this time investigators believe the man shot and killed the woman before he fatally shot himself.

Police identified the man as Truman Nelson Jr. and the woman as Martina Peeler.
