The Rapid City Police Department is investigating a Wednesday morning shooting that left a juvenile and adult man injured.

According to the press release from the department, officials were dispatched around 4:45 a.m. to 211 E. Knollwood Dr. for a report of a juvenile male who had been shot. Officers located the victim inside the apartment and began emergency first aid until a medical unit arrived to transport him to the hospital.

Witnesses allegedly told police a Chevrolet passenger car had fled the scene after the shooting. A short time later, the same vehicle was reported dropping off an adult male with a gunshot wound at the hospital.

A gun was located on the man's person prior to him being admitted for medical treatment, according to police. Both victims are being treated for serious, non-life-threatening injuries sustained in the shooting.

At this time, police are still working to determine the specific circumstances leading up to the incident, however, preliminary information suggests the two individuals who were shot were acquainted with each other, and the shooting does not appear to be random in nature.
