Two men arrested in connection with May 14 shooting in Americus

AMERICUS, Ga. (WRBL) — The Americus Police department has arrested two men in connection with a shooting that occurred in May .

Christopher Darrell Lembrick, Jr., 19, and Lavarous Jermaine Rumph, Jr., 18, are facing multiple charges in relation to the shooting of Michael Gage Grimes.

Lembrick and Rumph are both being charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In addition to those charges, each man faces additional charges related to their arrest.

  • Lembrick is being charged with obstruction of law enforcement, possession of schedule I narcotics with Intent to distribute

  • Rumph is being charged with giving false name to law enforcement, possession of schedule I narcotics with intent to distribute

  • Both were arrested at a residence on Beale Street in Americus.

    These arrests stem back to May when officers responded to a report of a shooting near the 500 block of Eastview Drive in Americus. When they arrived, they found Grimes suffering from a gunshot wound in a black Ford Fusion.

    Grimes was taken to the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center by EMS where he was stabilized and later transported to a trauma center for additional treatment.
