SHREVEPORT, La. ( KTAL/KMSS )—Shreveport police announced that a woman who was previously sought for alleged check fraud has been implicated in other acts of financial fraud along with an accomplice.

On October 31, SPD announced that it was looking for Shunya Hines and Takya White in connection with multiple acts of fraud targeting local banks and organizations.

Previous SPD reported that Hines deposited a fake cashier's check for $4,193.00 on September 17, which Providence House allegedly provided to her. The nonprofit confirmed it had no employment ties to Hines.

Barksdale Federal Credit Union officials and financial crime detectives' investigations showed that Hines and another woman identified as Takya White were involved in an "extensive fraud scheme" involving Christ Lutheran Church's business account.

Investigators believe that between September 18 and 21, 2024, Takaya White allegedly wrote and negotiated eight fraudulent checks totaling $11,911.10 at multiple Barksdale Federal Credit Union branches in Shreveport.

Hines and White are accused of siphoning $13,724.65 from the church's bank account without authorization.

SPD detectives and the Shreveport-Caddo Financial Crimes Task Force are actively pursuing the women and urge anyone with knowledge of their whereabouts to contact them immediately at 318-673-7300 or call Caddo Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
