Uniqlo to host Dallas grand opening Friday: Giveaways, exclusive designs and more

Uniqlo is opening its second Texas store at the Galleria Dallas on Friday, Oct. 18.

The Japanese retailer is going all out for its grand opening. In addition to the usual ribbon cutting ceremony and exclusive promotions for customers, the opening will include a traditional Japanese Taiko drum performance, a Japanese Calligraphy experience, free breakfast and more.

Uniqlo recently opened a pop-up kiosk at Galleria Dallas to give customers a taste of what's to come with limited-edition exclusive designs created by local artists and interactive experiences.

The new Galleria Dallas store officially opens Friday, but there will be festivities happening at the store throughout their opening weekend.

Here is the schedule for the Uniqlo at Galleria Dallas' opening weekend:

  • Traditional Japanese Taiko drum ceremony: Friday, Oct. 18, 9:50 a.m.
  • Doors open: Friday, Oct. 18, 10 a.m.
  • Morning breakfasts: Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 and 19, until 10:30 a.m.; Sunday, Oct. 20, until 11:30 a.m. – customers can enjoy free ITO EN tea and a local bakery treat
  • Japanese Calligraphy experience: Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 18-20, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
  • Giveaways: Friday through Sunday, Oct. 18-20 – the first 300 customers in line will receive free Uniqlo knot bags filled with freebies.
  • Gift with purchase: Friday through Sunday, Oct. 18-20 –the first 600 customers who make a purchase of at least $99 will receive a free tote bag
  • The Galleria Dallas store will offer unique services such as UTme! and RE.UNIQLO.

    The UTme! program is a custom print-on-demand service for T-shirts and tote bags. For the next 12 months, customers will be able to select exclusive designs by local artists for UTme prints. Featured artists include:

  • CocoAndre Chocolatier, a family-owned chocolate shop in Oak Cliff, Texas, that blends European techniques with traditional Mexican flavors in handcrafted chocolates.
  • Dear Giana , a 15-year-old Filipina-Mexican American artist and fashion designer.
  • Michelle Spearman , a Dallas-based illustrator known known for her bold, airbrush-style artwork.
  • Olmo Market , a locally sourced grocery and gift market built on supporting local artisans and fostering strong community connections.
  • Customers can also participate in Uniqlo's RE.UNIQLO initiative, which gives pre-worn clothing new life and value with repairs, embroidery, upcycling and more. Customers can donate gently used clothing, which will be provided to Uniqlo's community partner, Harmony House .

    Harmony House is a Houston based non-profit that provides quality permanent and transitional housing to people experiencing homelessness or low-income and at risk of experiencing homelessness. In addition, the organization provides access to comprehensive healthcare services.

    The Galleria Dallas will mark Uniqlo's second brick-and-mortar store opening in Texas. The first opened at Memorial City Mall, in Houston, on Oct. 11. Another Houston location will also be opening Friday, Oct. 18 at the First Colony Mall.

    Before the month is up, Texas will have five Uniqlo stores. Two more are set to open in North Texas on Friday, Oct. 25. One store will be at the Parks Mall at Arlington, in Arlington, and the other at Stonebriar Centre, in Frisco.

    Even without the brick-and-mortar stores, Texas has been Uniqlo's third largest e-commerce market, behind New York and California, which have both had Uniqlo locations for several years.

    Uniqlo currently has more than 60 stores across 13 states in the U.S.

    Texas People Campaign In celebration of the new stores, Uniqlo has launched its Texas People Campaign through which they're "spotlighting everyday Texans who exemplify the heart and spirit of their communities." Artists, entrepreneurs and athletes from Dallas and Houston are featured in the campaign wearing Uniqlo LifeWear, showcasing the brand's versatility and ability to integrate into diverse lifestyles.

    The Texas People Campaign will be displayed across all Texas Uniqlo stores.
