Nov. 14—More than a month after Huntsville Hospital Health System announced its hospitals would no longer accept United Healthcare insurance, the two entities announced Thursday that they have reached an agreement that maintains the in-network status for United subscribers who are patients in HH Health System hospitals.

The HH Health System includes Decatur Morgan Hospital and Athens-Limestone Hospital.

"This new agreement enables patients to continue to have access to the HH Health care teams that they know and trust," Jeff Samz, chief executive officer of the Huntsville Hospital Health System, said in a statement.

In addition to Decatur Morgan and Athens-Limestone hospitals, the new agreement applies to Huntsville Hospital, Madison Hospital, DeKalb Medical Center, Helen Keller Hospital, Highlands Medical Center, Lincoln Health, Marshall Medical Centers (North & South), and Red Bay Hospital.

The Huntsville Hospital Health System had last month said the contract Huntsville and Madison hospitals had with United would expire Nov. 14, the day the agreement was announced.
