Unsolved murder: Information sought in Dion Matthews Jr.’s death 9 years later

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) – It's been nine years since the death of 23-year-old Dion Matthews Jr. became an unsolved murder, and the Portland Police Bureau and Crime Stoppers of Oregon are still asking the public for information.

On Oct. 18, 2015, just before midnight, officers found Matthews dead from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of Dante's on Southwest Third Avenue and Burnside Street. Following the shooting, witnesses described seeing people running from the area and vehicles driving away.

Detectives who responded to the scene said they had "very little information to go on and need help from the public." Investigators continue to believe that someone witnessed the murder or has additional information that could help solve the crime.

Anonymous tips regarding any unsolved felony crime can be submitted through Crime Stoppers of Oregon via their website.

Information that leads to an arrest will result in $2,500 in cash.
