Upcoming 2024 Veterans Day Events In Greenwich Veterans Day is Monday, Nov. 11. Here's how you can pay tribute to those who have served.GREENWICH, CT — Veterans Day is on Monday, Nov. 11, and Greenwich is paying tribute to all those who have served with a couple of events.
Cos Cob VFW Post 10112 Ceremony On Strickland Road
The Cos Cob VFW Post 10112 will hold its annual ceremony at 10:30 a.m. in the pocket park on Strickland Road near the Greenwich Historical Society.
A film screening on the importance of veterans will be shown at the historical society following the ceremony, according to First Selectman Fred Camillo's weekly community newsletter.
Greenwich Avenue Parade & Ceremony
The American Legion Post 29 will lead the annual Veterans Day parade down Greenwich Avenue to the World War I memorial in front of Restoration Hardware beginning at 10:15 a.m.
The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. Past ceremonies have included keynote speakers.
"All veterans and their families are encouraged to join in the parade and be honored and we'd love to see a lot of supporters of our veterans too on this patriotic day," Camillo said in his newsletter.
Greenwich Town Hall will be closed on Nov. 11, and it will reopen for regular hours on Nov. 12. The Holly Hill Resource Recovery Facility will remain open on Veterans Day during normal hours from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Camillo also said residents should mark April 28, 2025, on their calendars, as Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz will hold a special ceremony at Greenwich Town Hall to honor Greenwich residents who served in the Korean War.
