  • Cory DeAndre Malik Mashburn Brown, 20, Jacob Johnson, 18, and Jiziah Smith, 18, were all charged with misdemeanor assault and misdemeanor conspiracy.
  • Kenneth Molles, 35, also an employee at the restaurant, was charged with carrying a concealed gun, and with resist, obstruct, and delay.
  • Alston also said information about what led to the altercation at the McDonald's, or a possible motive is yet to be determined.

"We don't know a relationship ... or if they had a history with each other," he said.

The altercation at the McDonalds came less than a week after a juvenile was shot and killed at a Waffle House on Randleman Road, a roughly three-minute drive from the McDonalds. A Waffle House employee, who is a juvenile, was identified and taken into custody in that case.

Alston said the incidents at the two restaurants are not connected.

But going forward, he said, more patrols are necessary for the area.

"We definitely want to be more visible," Alston said. "Sometimes it is hard to prevent random acts of violence, you know, with isolated incidents like this but you do want to be in the area as much as possible."

Alston concluded by saying police found both recent incidents on Randleman Road disturbing, especially considering these are places where families go.

"This is blatant disregard for public safety at the highest level," Alston said. "That's one thing that we can't tolerate. No one should tolerate. The business shouldn't tolerate it. Those are the types of things we do not need in the community."
