UPS announced it will recruit over 2,500 full-and part-time seasonal employees in Minneapolis this year as it prepares for a "shorter" holiday season.

According to a release from the shipping company, this hiring is part of its effort to hire 125,000 seasonal employees nationwide.

About 75% of these jobs no longer require an in-person interview and will allow many applicants to receive a job offer within 10 minutes. UPS will hire seasonal delivery drivers, Commercial Driver's License (CDL) drivers, and package handlers.

The company notes that it comes ahead of a "shorter" holiday season, with the late Thanksgiving (Nov. 28) reducing the holiday shopping period before Christmas.

"Each holiday season, we welcome new seasonal workers who become part of the UPS family, contributing to our business growth and delivering outstanding customer service during one of the most critical times in our business," Human Resources Director Samuel Mohamed said.

The starting rates for open UPS positions:

  • Package Handlers: Starting at $21-an-hour

  • CDL Driver: Starting at $23

  • Seasonal Delivery Drivers: Starting at $23

  • The company added that current UPS employees can receive a bonus when referring family and friends . Those interested in seasonal work at UPS can apply on its career page.
