US 60 reopens near Wickenburg after brush fire

WICKENBURG, AZ (AZFamily) — The U.S. 60 is back open west of Wickenburg after a fast-moving brush fire that started as a vehicle fire burned a couple of acres.

The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management is also responding to what's been named the Hay Fire. The agency says no structures were threatened.

Crews on the ground got help from the air with at least one airdrop.

Fire officials said forward progress on the fire was stopped after the flames burned 2 acres.

The Arizona Department of Transportation confirmed the highway was closed about 20 miles west of Wickenburg but reopened around 8:45 p.m.

The eastbound lane was briefly closed as drivers alternated through the westbound lane.
