US Highway 75 lane switch will bring project closer to completion

R.Taylor1 days ago
SHERMAN, Texas (KXII) - Those driving into south Sherman on Monday and Tuesday evening will be cruising into some changes on US Highway 75.

TxDOT Public Information Office, Tim McAlavy, said a lane switch will be taking place between Washington Street and Taylor Street from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. both nights.

"The northbound and southbound lanes of 75 will shift over to the newly made main lane traffic pavement," McAlavy said.

During the closures, traffic will detour onto the frontage roads.

After the two nights of lane switches, drivers will start cruising on the newly constructed portions of Highway 75.

City of Sherman Spokesperson, Nate Strauch, said this is a big milestone for the highway expansion.

"This is the only stretch of the highway that is not already utilizing the new lanes," Strauch said, "After this step in the process is done, all of the new lanes will be in place and utilized."

All that will be left to complete is the on and off ramps as well as the third lane of traffic in both directions.

South Sherman drivers are nearing the end of highway construction.

This position of the US 75 Highway expansion is expected to end in August .

TxDOT asks drivers to slow down and be alert in construction zones.
