US Marine Corps to celebrate 249th birthday, local group to host events in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Nov. 10 marks the 249th birthday of the United States Marine Corps. The Choctaw Detachment of the Marine Corps League in Baton Rouge has organized several events to celebrate.
On Thursday, Nov. 7, a Marine Corps League group will travel to the Louisiana Veterans Home in Jackson, La. They will deliver $1,500 in supplies, including clothes and other items.
On Friday, Nov. 8, they will serve coffee and donuts to patients and staff at the VA Medical Center on Essen Lane.
On Saturday, Nov. 9, the League will join the Walker Veterans Day Parade.
On Sunday, Nov. 10, they will attend a Veteran's Day Mass. Then, they will lay a wreath at General Robert Barrow's grave in St. Francisville and then go to a memorial at the Port Hudson National Cemetery.
