USF Bulls Blasted At Tulane; Byrum Brown Injured

J.Green1 hr ago

NEW ORLEANS, La. – What to make of the 2024 USF Bulls?

They demonstrated that they can play with top teams in the country for extended periods. They also showed they can be downright putrid for extended periods. As for the latter, a Byrum Brown touchdown run in the final minute of the opening half at Tulane on Saturday afternoon halted a stretch in which USF was outscored 59-0 over nearly 60 minutes. That would be 28-0 in the second half against Miami last week and 31-0 to the Green Wave before Brown's run.

Speaking of Brown, things deteriorated from bad to worse in a 45-10 loss to open conference play when the quarterback went down with 10 minutes remaining in the third quarter after taking a low shot when sacked. Brown, one day shy of his 20th birthday, remained on the turf for a few minutes and was clearly gimpy when assisted to the locker room.

Bryce Archie, as he did last week against Miami when Brown exited early in the fourth quarter due to being nicked up, came on and went 4-for-10 for 41 yards to complete an afternoon in which the Bulls were outgained 528-201.

The Bulls (2-3/0-1 AAC) get to catch their breath and lick their wounds with a bye next week before returning to action against visiting Memphis for a Friday evening affair October 11.
