Vanderbilt fans carried goal posts all over downtown Nashville after upsetting No. 1 Alabama

There won't be a more stunning college football result all year than Vanderbilt's wild win over No. 1 Alabama to highlight Saturday's action in Week 6. Vanderbilt had never beaten a top-5 team in the polls in 60 tries all-time, but it somehow knocked off the mighty Crimson Tide one week after a rousing victory over Georgia in what promised to be the best game of the regular season. A week later, Vanderbilt shocked the world by pulling off a 40-35 victory despite entering the game as a 23.5-point underdog entering the game.

Vandy scored on the opening drive of the game, then added a pick-6 off Heisman candidate Jalen Milroe on the very next possession. The Commodores held on down the stretch thanks to a late touchdown reception from Kamrean Johnson on a six-yard pass from QB Diego Pavia. The Vanderbilt offense earned enough first downs in the closing minutes of regulation to make sure 'Bama never got a chance at a game-tying drive.

As the final buzzer sounded, Vanderbilt fans rushed the field to celebrate the biggest win in program history. Then they tore down the goal posts. That's when the real fun began.

Vanderbilt is located in the heart of downtown Nashville. When the fans carried the goal posts out of the stadium, suddenly they were in the middle of a major city.

Broadway Street in Nashville is known as the bachelorette party capital of the world. Just imagine walking out of the local honkey tonk and immediately seeing college students carrying a set of goal posts around town. It happened.

Vanderbilt fans eventually deposited the goal posts in the Cumberland River running through downtown.

Vanderbilt students will never forget this win the rest of their lives — at least the ones sober enough to realize what they're doing.

Alabama is just fine because of the new expanded College Football Playoff. Vanderbilt will savor this win forever either way.
