A pregnant cow is "fit and well" after being lifted out of a residential swimming pool by firefighters. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service was called to Ketco Avenue in Ketton, Rutland, at 12:41 GMT on Monday, where the cow was udderly stuck in 2ft to 3ft (0.6-1m) of water. The pool was part-drained and she was safely lifted out using a downer cow harness, designed to protect the heifer and her udders, according to the service. A spokeswoman said the pregnant heifer "had checked herself in for a spa day. The only problem is, she couldn't check herself out". The technical rescue crew from Southern Station was at the scene for more than three hours, before leaving at 15:57, the fire service said. The cow was checked over by a vet after the ordeal. "The farmer has arranged for her to be kept an eye on," the spokeswoman added.
