Vehicle fatally strikes cyclist in Sacramento County

(FOX40.COM) — A bicyclist died after being hit by a vehicle in Sacramento County Saturday night, the California Highway Patrol said.

According to CHP, the crash happened around 6:51 p.m. on 65th Street north of Florin Road.

Sacramento announces improvement projects for two key roads

The agency said a 41-year-old driver was heading south on 65th when the cyclist, 32, tried to cross 65th Street in front of the vehicle.

CHP said the driver used his brakes but still hit the cyclist who was then taken to a hospital where she later died from her injuries.

CHP does not believe alcohol to be a factor in the collision.
