Veterans Day closures and events around Oklahoma
OKLAHOMA ( KFOR ) — Veterans Day is Monday, November 11, and as we use the day to honor and thank the veterans who have served and protected our country, events and business closures will be happening around Oklahoma.
Events and closings are being held around Oklahoma on Veterans Day 2024, find out what is going on near you.
OKLAHOMA CITY
VETERANS DAY EVENTS:
Oklahoma National Guard Museum will be hosting its annual Veterans Day celebration on November 11 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The event is open and free to the public.
The ceremony will begin with a salute by a World War II anti-tank gun and will be followed by the 145th Army Band performing, a guest speaker and Massing of the Colors. Uniformed soldiers from each military unit will fly their flags to honor the men and women of the Armed Forces.
The museum says it will be open all day for those in attendance.
No trash or recycling pickup on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11. Bulky waste pickup will not be affected and a makeup day for trash and recycling will be Wednesday, November 13.
City offices will be closed.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Center.
Animal Welfare.

Oklahoma City Parks recreation centers, community centers, gyms and senior centers.

Outdoor grounds will be open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
VETERANS DAY EVENTS:
Edmond History Museum will be hosting the 4th annual Veterans Day Celebration on Monday, November 11 from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Stephenson Park Pavilion.
Speakers at the event include: Retired Captain Al Haizlip, Commander of the Edmond American Legion Post #111, retired Colonel Greg Roberts, USAF, former AWACS Operation Group Commander at Tinker AFB and Edmond Mayor Darrell Davis.
Edmond Community Chorale will perform the National Anthem and Joyful Sound Chorus will perform the Service Medley.
Presentation of Colors will be done by Edmond North Jr. ROTC.
Booths at the event include: Edmond VFW, Edmond American Legion, Neptune Society, Cordelia Steen Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Samuel King Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, OKC Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs, Vertical Roofing Solutions (Veteran owned) and Oklahoma National Guard Family Programs services.
VETERANS DAY EVENTS:
A parade and ceremony will be held on Sunday, November 10, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m.
The parade will start at 2:00 p.m. at the OU Stephenson Research Center located at 101 David L. Boren Boulevard. A variety of unique classic cars and military vehicles will also be included in the parade.
The route of the parade will proceed from the Research Center and go north on Jenkins Avenue, east on Constitution, and north towards Cleveland County Veterans Memorial.
The memorial ceremony will follow the parade and begin at 3:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided before the ceremony.
The City of Norman will be closed on Monday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day.
VETERANS DAY EVENTS:
A Veterans Day Ceremony is free to attend and will be held on Monday, November 11 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at The Station Recreation Center meeting rooms near 700 S Broadway Avenue.
Moore City Offices will be closed on Veterans Day.
Trash service will not be affected according to the City of Moore.
MIDWEST CITY
VETERANS DAY EVENTS:
The City of Midwest City will be honoring veterans with a parade that will feature marching bands, military personnel and equipment, Shriner's and more.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 11 and will begin at SE 15th Street and Century Boulevard. You can find a map that details the parade route below:
VETERANS DAY EVENTS:
The Tulsa Veterans Day parade will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 11 in downtown Tulsa, starting near 11 E 3rd Street and finishing up near 1109 E 6th Street.
The parade will include floats, military vehicles, vehicle clubs and walkers.
Tulsa City Hall and facilities will be closed.
Tulsa Parks recreation centers will be closed, outdoor facilities of Tulsa Parks' will still be accessible.
All City of Ada non-emergency offices will be closed on Monday, November 11 in observance of Veterans Day.
City landfill will be closed, though garbage services will not be affected and will continue to operate as usual.
VETERANS DAY EVENTS:
A special Veterans Day celebration will be held on Monday, November 11 at 8:00 a.m. near the west side portion of City Hall. A ceremony will be held with Mayor Stan Booker, City Manager John Ratliff, and Fort Sill Garrison Commander Col. Derek Baird to speak at the event.
A complimentary breakfast buffet will be held after the ceremony at the City Hall Banquet Room.
