FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WBOY) — A man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder stemming from an incident in Fairmont in 2023 .

According to Marion County Prosecutor Jeffrey Freeman, Zeighshawn Meade, 20, of Fairmont, pleaded guilty last week to the felony charge of first-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Clayton Peck before Marion County Circuit Judge Patrick Wilson.

In their investigation of Peck's death, officers with the Fairmont Police Department were able to locate Meade based on a black-and-white Nike shoe that was found at the scene of the murder.

In 2023, Wilson denied Meade bond due to gunshot residue being found on his face following his arrest.

Meade had originally been indicted for the charges of first-degree murder, first-degree robbery and conspiracy to commit a felony with two other individuals during the October 2023 term of the Marion County Grand Jury .

Previously, one of Meade's accomplices was sentenced to life in prison for the 2023 murder.

Meade remains in the North Central Regional Jail.
