BLOOMINGTON ( 25News Now ) - The McLean County Coroner has identified the victim of a fatal crash in Bloomington Sunday.

Chakquia Echols, 27, from Normal, was pronounced deceased in the emergency room at Carle BroMenn at 8:33 p.m. on Nov. 3.

Her preliminary autopsy indicates she died from multiple blunt injuries due to the crash.

Her injuries were consistent with being a restrained passenger, the coroner said.

Toxicology is pending.

The driver of the vehicle, Michael C. Mitchell, 25, from Bloomington, was arrested on multiple preliminary charges including reckless homicide and failure to report an accident involving death.

The crash happened in the area of Fox Creek and Beich roads. Officers were called around 7:50 p.m.

According to Bloomington Police, a sedan with two people was traveling westbound on Fox Creek Road, colliding with a sedan traveling eastbound. The only person in the sedan traveling east suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the westbound sedan allegedly abandoned the vehicle and left, police said. Echols was a passenger in the vehicle and taken to a hospital where she later died.
