Victorville man tried to meet 14-year-old for sex: SBSD
A Victorville man was arrested after he allegedly tried to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex, only to find out that "girl" was an undercover detective.
Claudio Betancourt, 24, was arrested Wednesday after he visited an anonymous chat site and "initiated a conversation with the detective who was pretending to be a 14-year-old girl," the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department said in a news release .
Using the username "spicy_burrito15," Betancourt continued conversing with the "teen" on another platform, during which he agreed to meet the "girl" for sexual acts, authorities said.
Betancourt was arrested on charges of lewd act on a child 14 or 15 years old, contacting a minor to commit a felony and arranging to meet a minor for lewd purposes.
He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.
He was due to appear in Victorville Superior Court on Friday.
