Welcome to the Bay Area News Group ( Mercury News & East Bay Times ) boys Athlete of the Week poll.

For the entire academic year, we will provide a list of candidates who stood out over the previous week and allow you, the reader, to vote for the winner.

This week, we consider performances from Nov. 13-18.

Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Vote as many times as you’d like until then without using bots or any other artificial methods of voting.

Votes by email and after 5 p.m. Wednesday are not counted.

On to the nominees:

Marcus Burke, Salesian football: Threw two touchdown passes, one to Carlton Perrilliat and the other to Marco Turqueza, as Salesian won on the road over Moreau Catholic 26-15 to advance to the NCS Division VI final against top-seeded St. Vincent de Paul.

Trey Caldwell, De La Salle cross country: Reached the finish line first in the Division II race at the NCS championships at Hayward High, covering the three-mile course in 15:08.3. He had the fastest time across all divisions and helped De La Salle finish second in the D-II team standings.

Lucas Cohen, Albany cross country: Finished first in the Division IV race at the NCS championships, running the three-mile course in 15:17.7. Albany finished fifth in the D-IV team standings.

Toa Faavae, De La Salle football: Ran for 135 yards in 10 carries and scored on two fourth-quarter runs as De La Salle rallied from a 7-3 deficit through three periods to edge San Ramon Valley 17-7 in the NCS Open Division championship game.

Elijah Fields, South San Francisco football: In a defensive battle, Fields scored on a 1-yard run with just seconds on the clock as South San Franciso edged Leland 11-9 to advance to the CCS Division V championship game Saturday against Santa Teresa.

Arturo Hernandez, Mountain View football: Carried 23 times for 271 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead Mountain View past Branham 38-34 in the semifinals of the CCS Division IV playoffs. The Spartans will face Palo Alto for the championship on Saturday at San Jose City College.

Kamani Jackson, El Cerrito football: The Washington State-bound Jackson caught three touchdown passes and had a pick-six as El Cerrito rolled through Heritage 55-17 to move on to the NCS Division II championship on Friday night against Windsor at Diablo Valley College.

Jaxen Robinson, Christopher football: The junior completed 20 of 28 passes for 264 yards and two touchdowns and ran for a 35-yard TD in the fourth quarter to complete a comeback from 17 points behind as Christopher beat Menlo School 21-17 in the CCS Division II semifinals.

Jamar Searcy, Pittsburg football: Ran for 211 yards on 17 carries and caught a touchdown pass as Pittsburg defeated California 35-14 to reach the NCS Division I championship game Friday against San Ramon Valley at Dublin High.

Andrew Spencer, Sacred Heart Prep water polo: Helped SHP capture its third consecutive NorCal Division I championship, scoring three goals in a 13-12 semifinal win in overtime against De La Salle and three goals and three assists in the final as the Gators defeated Miramonte 13-10 at UOP in Stockton.
