Waffle House shooting death sparks HCSO investigation
la. — The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred at a Waffle House in Riverview on Saturday morning.
The Sheriff's Office is now asking for the public's help in finding the suspect.
According to an HCSO press release, just after 3 a.m. the agency received a call reporting a shooting at a Waffle House at 10041 US Highway 301 South.
When deputies arrived, they found an unresponsive adult male with a gunshot wound to his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives learned that a suspect and the victim got into a verbal altercation, which ended up with the victim being shot.
"We are committed to holding those responsible for such reckless violence accountable," said Hillsborough Sheriff Chad Chronister. "We urge anyone with information that can help us identify the suspect to come forward and help us in our investigation."
