Wanted man out of Pennsylvania arrested after high-speed chase in Nash County
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WNCT) — Nash County deputies arrived and tried to identify the driver of a suspicious vehicle when he sped away and struck a Nash County deputy's vehicle. A chase ensued on Interstate 95 and deputies continued to chase the driver into Halifax County and then Northampton County at speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour.
Troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol assisted in the chase, eventually getting the vehicle off the road near the N.C/Virginia state line. Once the vehicle came to a stop, the driver, Kenneth Wilson Crider, of Poolesville, MD was taken into custody.
The vehicle was found to had been stolen out of Pennsylvania. Crider was also wanted out of Pennsylvania due to his involvement in the theft of a vehicle and a dog.
Crider was charged with:
Warrant for a fugitive
Reckless driving
Driving with a fictitious registration
Felony hit-and-run
Possession of a stolen vehicle
Assault with a deadly weapon
Felony fleeing to elude law enforcement
Failure to stop for lights and sirens
Crider was jailed without bond in the Nash County Detention Center.
