Weather Alert: Winter storm this weekend

The Winter Storm Watch has been reduced to a Winter Storm Advisory because snow accumulations are expected to stay below 7 inches.
A strong storm will pass well to our south Saturday into Sunday. Parts of Virginia and Maryland will see a foot or more of snow. Luzerne County will be on the northern edge of the storm and will receive less.
Sothern Luzerne County, including Hazleton and Freeland should see about 3-6 inches of snow from this storm, while the northern valley cities of Wilkes-Barre and Pittston should receive 2-4 inches.
Light snow will begin during the day Saturday with 1-3 inches accumulating by evening. The rest will fall overnight and early Sunday morning.

A winter storm watch has been issued for Luzerne and surrounding counties for the possibility of up to seven inches or more of snow on Saturday through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, N.Y.
A winter storm will move along the eastern seaboard on Saturday spreading light snow across eastern Pennsylvania. Snowfall is expected to be heavy at times Saturday night.
Snowfall accumulations is dependent on the tract of the storm.
