When do polls open in Nashville? Find Election Day voting hours, locations and ballot information

Election Day is here and it's the last chance for voters to make their voice heard in a multitude of races, including who will become the next President of the United States .

Tennessee will also decide seats in the U.S. Senate and House as well as the state legislature. Locally, residents will also have the opportunity to weigh in on Mayor Freddie O'Connell's transit referendum .

There's a battle for the U.S. Senate . Incumbent Marsha Blackburn, R-Tennessee, who is seeking a second term, will square off against state Rep. Gloria Johnson, D-Knoxville. U.S. Reps Andy Ogles, R-Columbia, John Rose, R-Cookeville, and Mark E. Green, R-Clarksville, will all defend their seats in the District 5, 6 and 7 races, respectively.

When do polls open and close on Election Day? See Tuesday's voting hours

Polls open Nov. 5 at 7 a.m. CT and close at 7 p.m. CT.

While polls close at 7 p.m., anyone in line before or at that time will still be allowed to cast their ballot after the cut off as long as they remain in line.

Where to vote in Nashville, Middle Tennessee? Find voting locations

Voters can visit GoVoteTN.com to find your current Election Day polling location.

One the website, you can either search by your name or current address.

What to bring: Do I need a photo ID to vote?

Yes.

Voters in Tennessee must show one of the following valid photo identification cards:

  • A driver's license

  • A Tennessee issued identification card

  • A U.S. Passport

  • A U.S. Military photo ID

  • A Tennessee handgun carry permit with your photo

    In Tennessee, voters must be registered to vote 30 days before Election Day, which means voter registration closed on Oct. 7.

    You can check your voter registration status at the Secretary of State's website, visit tnmap.tn.gov/voterlookup .

    The voter registration lookup tool will need you county of residence, name, birth month, birth year and social security number before it have provide your current voter registration information.

    The information includes your polling location as well as the races you'll be casting your ballot for.

    Who is on the ballot?

    All voters in Nashville will have the opportunity to vote for President, the U.S. Senate seat and the transit referendum. The U.S. House race will be dependent on which district you live in. The same is true of the state legislature seats on the ballot. Your address will determine the ballot you receive.
