Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’ Is Still Debuting On Charts To This Day

Whitney Houston has a catalog filled with singles that have stood the test of time. Some of her most successful tunes are still party-starters, and few musicians claim more tracks that appeal to as wide an array of people as her smashes. The most successful of her songs may be decades old, but it is still, somehow, reaching charts for what appears to be the first time.

"I Will Always Love You" is present on two charts in the United Kingdom at the moment. It looks like the tune finds its way back to one of them, while also debuting on another.

Houston's classic–which was first made popular by writer Dolly Parton–spends what appears to be its first week on the Official Singles Sales chart. On the list of the best-selling tracks of any style or on any medium in the U.K., "I Will Always Love You" can be found at No. 83.

The chart's page makes it appear that "I Will Always Love You" is a returning win for Houston, but the song's actual website via the Official Charts Company tells a different story. That information states that the song is actually a debut, as it has now spent just one frame on the ranking.

As it debuts on the Official Singles Sales chart, "I Will Always Love You" also reappears on another tally it has landed on in the past. The smash breaks back onto the Official Singles Downloads list, which focuses solely on the most-downloaded tracks across the pond.

"I Will Always Love You" was released as a single in 1992 from The Bodyguard movie's soundtrack. The movie starred Houston, and the song helped the title become a box office win...and it was one of the most successful smashes of all time. It reached No. 1 in dozens of countries, including the U.K., and it won Houston and her producer David Foster a number of Grammys.

The ongoing success enjoyed by "I Will Always Love You" has seemingly helped two of Houston's compilations climb in the U.K. as well. The album that is named after the single climbs on a pair of rankings. Meanwhile, another gathering of beloved tunes from the late singer, The Ultimate Collection, returns to a pair of rosters at the same time.
