Why Tekashi 6ix9ine Will Serve More Jail Time
Tekashi 6ix9ine is expected to be behind bars for another month.
The rapper, whose legal name is Daniel Hernandez, is set to appear in court next week to accept a plea deal in relation to the charges against him, TMZ reported Thursday, November 7, citing documents from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York.
Federal prosecutors are recommending a 30-day jail sentence for the rapper, followed by another year of supervised release. Prosecutors are also pushing for the rapper to be on home confinement for 30 days after he serves 90 days of incarceration. They want the following 30 days of his sentence to be home detention and followed by a curfew for the last 30 days.
The government will allow him to travel domestically for work with his probation officer's approval afterward — if the deal is approved — and want him to submit to random drug testing.
A judge has not signed off on this sentence yet.
Tekashi 28, was first arrested on Tuesday, October 29 for allegedly violating parole conditions.
He previously faced trouble with the law in 2018 when he was arrested on racketeering and conspiracy to commit murder charges. He pleaded guilty and agreed to testify against his former gang, Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.
The "Gunmo" rapper received a lighter sentence for cooperating with authorities and was released from prison to be placed under supervised release.
He was arrested again earlier this year in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on domestic violence charges after being accused of assaulting his girlfriend, Dominican rapper Yailin la Más Viral.
He previously was involved in an alleged assault at a Los Angeles gym in 2023.
