Winds pick up in CNY to end the week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Our cool down continues into the end of the week as we get back to more typical November weather. Details below...
A quiet night
After a gloomy start Thursday, high pressure has cleared our skies out this afternoon. We are in for a generally clear night although not all that cool for this point in November. It is near 40 in Syracuse with some mid to upper 30s in outlying areas.
The breeze is back Friday
The wind picks up for us Friday, first out of the west then northwest in the afternoon as a cold front swings through. There could be some gusts to 30 mph.
The cold front certainly brings clouds back into Central New York by midday but otherwise is starved for moisture. Any showers the second half of the day are scattered and light in nature.
Highs for the last half of the week are closer to seasonable levels between 55 and 60, but the wind will make feel cooler.
Split weekend
In the wake of Friday's cold front, a large area of high pressure builds in for Saturday and clears us out. It turns out sunny and it is a seasonably chilly for early November. Highs are in the 40s and close to 50 but at least with less wind than Friday.
By Sunday, the high is moving off the New England coast and the next frontal system is approaching from the west. Look for southerly winds to increase again Sunday with increasing clouds in the afternoon along with the chance of showers.
