Wine bar and boutique shop coming to Wayne after Radnor BOC approves liquor license transfer

RADNOR – A new business, described by the owner as a wine bar and boutique shop, is coming to Wayne.

During its meeting this week, the Radnor Board of Commissioners approved transferring a liquor license into Radnor for Nature's Vin.

Nature's Vin will be located at 193 to 195 East Lancaster Ave. in Wayne in the former site of Cowan's Flower Shop.

During the meeting, the owner, Ragini Parmar, described Nature's Vin as "a wine bar and boutique shop."

Parmar added that a small restaurant would also be associated with Nature's Vin.

"We're going to be focused on natural wines," Parmar said. She added other terms to describe the business including natural, biodynamic and organic.

After being asked by one of the commissioners what biodynamic means, Parmar said it is how farmers farm.

"So it's sustainable efforts in farming that produce organic grapes, but if you add any type of preservatives or any toxins to those organic grapes, they're no longer natural, so they're actually three distinct categories," Parmar said.

Parmar said inclusion in the wine industry would also play a role in Nature's Vin as it focuses on women farmers, ownership, and winemakers.

Parmar said a glass of wine would run from $12 to $20. Bottles would run from $20 to $60 or more. Wine would be the only type of alcohol sold at the business.

"So we're going to be taking the service of alcohol very seriously with appropriate training for all staff," Parmar said. "Also, this is not going to be a bar where people are hanging out and drinking, or what you would consider kind of a traditional bar. This is more of a tasting room. An education hub to really understand the wines, understand the storytelling behind these winemakers, and really bring in winemakers to speak to the community as well."

Approval from the township was needed for the transfer of liquor licenses from Upper Darby into Radnor. A written resolution from the commissioner must be submitted to the state liquor control board as part of the license transfer.

According to documents submitted to the township, the business will be open Tuesday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and closed Sunday and Monday. It will also have limited holiday hours.

The proposed business will seat about 38 patrons.

Parmar said she expects to go before the Radnor Township Design and Review Board next month.

According to documents submitted to the township, Naturer's Vin is expected to have its soft opening by the end of February and its public opening by mid-March.
