With Son Charlie's USGA Debut, Will Tiger Woods's Daughter Sam Ever Play Professional Golf?

Sam Woods doesn't like her dad's career? Not exactly. With his son, Charlie Woods , making it to the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur after performing well, the 82-time PGA winner couldn't be more proud. The event is set to take off from July 22-28 at Oakland Hills in the suburbs of Detroit. While Tiger Woods's son will surely be his golf buddy, that might not be the case with his daughter.

In an interview with TODAY, Woods explained why his daughter Sam may not be seen playing golf professionally. And the GOAT supports that decision!

What's the reason for Sam Woods' distaste for golf? It's not unusual for children to not follow in their parent's footsteps, and Tiger Woods agrees with her decision. While Sam has been caught caddying for her father on the course several times, she has limited herself to that only. In an interview with TODAY , when asked why Sam doesn't want to play golf, Woods revealed the heartbreaking reason his daughter is not interested in making a career in the sport.

"No, no, no, no," said the incredible golfer. "She has a, I think, a negative connotation to the game because at that time when she was growing up, golf took daddy away from her," he continued reflecting on the upsetting fact that when Tiger was away from home winning the trophies along with our hearts, there was someone quite special waiting for him at home.

"I had to pack, and I had to leave and I had to be gone for weeks and there's still a negative connotation to it," he said, addressing that golf is a quite demanding sport. Most golfers on tour don't get to see their families for weeks, and that's exactly what happened here with Sam. While we were cheering for the legendary golfer to win another tour, his daughter wondered where her daddy was.

To make up for this, they have come up with a solution, "So we develop our own relationship, our own rapport that's outside of golf," said the golfer. For instance, Sam was seen accompanying her dad to his World Golf Hall of Fame induction in 2022 and said more than just one or two words.

"I realized while writing this speech that, no matter what life throws our way, we somehow come out together and stronger," she said.

"You know, train hard, fight easy," such powerful words. Now, this is something only Tiger Woods' daughter can say. Sam shared little things that Tiger does that make us love him even more!

"Whether it's on FaceTime or school pickup or violin concerts or when we fail to teach our dogs tricks, he's always there," said Sam. This further proves Tiger is an exceptional father despite being a golf superstar for the ages.

"And it's been at the soccer fields and golf tournaments over the years that Charlie and I have begun to realize how famous he actually is," she continued, referring to the truth that while many fans will go above and beyond to get a glimpse of a photograph of the golfer, Tiger Woods is just her dad.
