PEORIA, Illinois (WMBD) – Illinois State won their third straight game Saturday night, defeating Eastern Illinois 31-7 in the 112th meeting of the Mid-America Classic.

Tommy Rittenhouse finished with 288 yards passing for the Redbirds along with three touchdowns and no interceptions. Wenkers Wright also added 150 yards on the ground along with a score.

The Washington Panthers handed the previously undefeated U-High Pioneers soccer team its first loss of the season in a 2-0 match. Eric Nolte scored the game winning goal in the 25th minute of the first half.

Normal Community soccer blitzed Quincy Notre Dame 7-1 in a home victory as well.

At the second day of the Dragon Classic at the Lick Creek Golf Course, East Peoria's Connor Watson, finished as the highest local player. He carded a 70 to finish third overall.

Pekin's Owen Gruden carded a top ten finish as well, finishing in Watson's group with a 74. U-High finished second place as a team.

Dunlap High School hosted a cross country invitational. In the varsity girls race, Olympia's Emma Swartzendruber finished 2nd individually, crossing the finish line in 18:17. Eureka girls finished 3rd as a team. The overall team winner was Chatham Glennwood, who is ranked No. 1 in the state. All five of their runners finished in the top ten.

In the boys race, Metamora's Zach Born was the individual winner, finished in 15:38. Eureka's Tucker Hinkle was runner-up and the Hornets finished in first place as a team.
