Wolves shut out Rockford IceHogs for first home win of season
ROSEMONT, Ill. (CBS) - The Wolves shut out the Rockford IceHogs at Allstate Arena in Rosemont Sunday, as they wrapped up a run of three games in three days.
The final score was 4-0. It was the first home win of the season for the Wolves, and the win also ended a three-game losing streak.
Ronan Seeley, Aleksi Heimosalmi, Noel Gunler, and Skyler Brind'Amour all scored for the Wolves. Dustin Tokarski made his first appearance for the Wolves Sunday, and made 29 saves in goal.
Seeley ripped a shot from the top of the left circle and scored in late in the first period, as the puck sailed past IceHogs goaltender Mitchell Weeks, the Wolves said.
Heimosalmi scored next, midway through the second quarter, with his first American Hockey league score. A power-play goal by Gunler drove the score up to 3-0 Wolves—sliding a rebound of Justin Robidas' shot into the goal past Weeks, the Voles said.
Brind'Amour scored a power play in the third, redirecting a long shot by Scott Morrow, the Wolves said.
The Wolves are now 4-7-1-0 for the season, while the IceHogs have fallen to 4-8-0-0.
The Wolves will take on the Moose in Manitoba this coming Thursday morning.
