A 35-year-old woman from Ohio was arrested after allegedly attempting to break into a home in San Marino and was later found with mail believed to be stolen from another residence, police said Friday.

Officers responded to the 2500 block of Oak Knoll Avenue on Sept. 10 at around 8:30 p.m. regarding reports of a woman attempting to get in through a secured front door, according to the San Marino Police Department.

A second call came about the same woman in the 1200 block of Sherwood Road, police said.

The suspect, later identified as Tabitha Jo Davis of Canton, Ohio, was found in the area and detained, according to police.

"The investigation revealed Davis looked through the front windows of an occupied residence and attempted to open the secured front door. After failing to gain entry, Davis removed a package from the front porch and fled the location," according to a police statement.

On Sept. 11, police responded to the 1000 block of Lorain Road after receiving reports of damage to a windowpane.

According to police, Davis was allegedly seen near the property on surveillance video around the time of the attempted burglary.

Police said she was in possession of mail from a residence in the 1000 block of Lorain Road and had an active misdemeanor arrest warrant for trespassing.

According to police, Davis was taken to the Pasadena City Jail.

Anyone with information regarding the attempted burglary was urged to contact the San Marino Police Department at 626-300-0720. Tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
