Woman dies after shooting in College/Glen neighborhood of Sacramento, police say

A woman was shot and killed in eastern Sacramento, according to police, one of three fatal shootings in the city on Saturday.

According to Sacramento Police Department spokesman Officer Anthony Gamble, officers were called just before 5 p.m. to the 3100 block of Occidental Drive in the College/Glen neighborhood for reports of a shooting.

Officers and Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived to find a woman with at least one gunshot wound; she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman's identity was expected to be released by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office.

Gamble said that officers detained a man at the scene, though they were working to determine his involvement in the shooting.

"We do believe this incident to be contained to the residence," Gamble said.
