Woman fatally shot in New Orleans East; person of interest sought

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A woman was shot and killed Wednesday evening (Oct. 16) in New Orleans East, NOPD said. The fatal shooting occurred in the 6200 block of Bridgehampton Drive. Officers responded to the scene around 7:15 p.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found the woman unresponsive with at least one gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives have identified Eric Christopher Gentris, 35, as a person of interest in the case. While Gentris is not charged with any crime, investigators believe he may have information crucial to the investigation. Anyone with information is urged to contact Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
