Woman hospitalised after CAULIFLOWER falls on her head in Waitrose slams supermarket's 'insulting' response

A woman claims she was hospitalised when a cauliflower fell on her head while she was shopping in Waitrose .

Housewife Sammi Mai, 42, was on holiday in Bath, Somerset, with her husband when she believes the large vegetable plummeted 4ft from the top shelf of the store's reduced area.

The impact is alleged to have caused her to black out and she came round to see the cauliflower by her side which, she claims, staff plonked back onto the shelf.

She was taken to hospital suffering with a severe headache, nausea and dizziness and was diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome, reported The Sun .

Irate Mrs Mai, from Kingston, London , has now slammed the supermarket for giving her a £25 voucher and £8 for a taxi fare in response, describing it as 'insulting'.

The loyal Waitrose shoppers says she feels let down by the supermarket and hasn't used the gift card.

She and her husband complained to the customer services team two days after the incident which Mrs Mai says 'ruined' their holiday.

But she claims they have been told they will need to get their solicitor involved if they wish to take it further.

'I was very unwell and I'm still suffering and unable to work,' she said.

'I don't know how the cauliflower fell but they should not store heavy, roundish items like that on the top shelf.

'The staff just put it back on the top shelf so they were not treating the incident seriously.'

A Waitrose spokesperson told MailOnline: 'Our customer was seen immediately by a trained first aider at the time of the accident and we are sorry to hear she is unwell.

'We take customer safety incredibly seriously and have thoroughly investigated this case - but will consider any new information she wishes to share with us.'
